All enlightened societies hold equality as an ideal to be attained--and I believe this is good--but it is fundamentally a violation of nature. In nature, no two beings are equal, our pretty rhetoric about being created equal aside. The way the conflict between the ideal and the reality plays out is the story of civilization.
