The San Francisco Chronicle is not a great newspaper. But, compared to the New York Times and the Washington Post, it is an average large city daily paper. It has good local coverage, but poor national coverage. San Francisco is a true American treasure. There is more culture, power, money, and major business decisions originating in San Francisco than any other West Coast city. The Chronicle doesn't reflect the importance of the City. As a third generation San Franciscan who has lived all over the world, we natives deserve a better daily. We also miss Herb Caen terribly. No one will ever be able to take his place.
