Not much good to say about the month of January. The excitement of the new, colder season and snows in December has now become an irritation and hassle, the fun spirits of the Holidays are now the bills that must be paid, and the second semester of school starts. On the upside, the Super Bowl ends the pro-football season, college basketball starts its rivalry conference games, and New Year's Day provides a psychological fresh start (though tempered by the dreary weather). January is named after Janus, the Roman two-faced god of doorways and beginnings.
