Canada and the United States have many differences. At the simpliest level, it can be said that Canada is ruled by Venus, goddess of love and we're ruled by Mars, the god of war. Canada has a very low crime rate which stems in large part from their lack of social inequity. People aren't as repressed and frustrated in general, probably because they have a big social safety net. I've been to Canada many times and it's a nice country; if I were to move out of the US, Canada would be the first place I would contemplate going to. It's a modern society with all the amenities. You can tell a lot about a society by what's reported in the media. The first thing you notice is that Canadian news outlets aren't constantly reporting on gruesome crimes and perpetuating a culture of fear on the people. They're more well adjusted than we are in that respect. However, their society isn't as dynamic as ours. We may be more violent and encouraging of social inequities, but that's made up by a very ingenuitive culture. The United States is number one in diverse fields from sports to technology because of its libertarian bent. Canada has a lot more in common with Scandinavia, which is more peaceful, diplomatic and passive. Our solution to world problems is to blow out a regime that isn't in our interests, to hell with the consequences. Canadians have a more patient view of things, which might actually serve them well. How many terrorist attacks have they gone through at the hands of Saudi nationals? America is a great country, but we have to think before we react more. It could be said that Canada was America's big brother that didn't rebel against their parents. During our revolutionary war, Canada was a haven for the loyalists and the historical tensions have stemmed from that point on, and that's why Canada is a sacred cow on RIA.
