I think this would be tough to learn, since it is so illogical. On the other hand the vocabulary is extremely rich, having sometimes the same word from Germanic, Norse, French, and/or Latin (kingly, royal, regal as an example of three synonyms which have slightly different meanings, and come from three different languages)
