Dennis Kucinich, a Congressman from Ohio, is a liberal Democrat who has been outspoken against the perceived reduction of Civil Rights under the Bush Administration as well as US action in the Middle East and Afghanistan. In February of 2002, Kucinich gave a speech to the liberal Americans for Democratic Action group in which he said it was "patriotic" to dissent against the purported extra-constitutional measures the Bush Administration wanted to use in the War on Terrorism. This speech would later be cited as the impetus for his Presidential run.
