Gay Rights 1

Gays want to be treated like a race of people! People do not choose to be black or white, but they do choose to be gay. They should have no special rights. They are under the same civil laws as minorities. That is plenty!

As for you Ahexomega! You said that the bible was not a reliable source to our forefathers! What a pathetic and not nearly true statement.

George Washington said, "Do not let ANYONE claim to be a true American if they attempt to remove religion from politics." George Washington also said, "It is impossible to reason without arriving at a supreme being." "Religion is as necessary to reason as reason is to religion."

John Quincy Adams said, "I have for many years made it a practice to read through the bible once every year." Don't tell me the bible was not a source for our founding fathers!!!!!

What's your evidence for claiming gays choose to be gay, as opposed to just turning out that way by reason of genetics and/or environmental influences?

louiethe20th commented 295 days ago.
Some people are born more feminine or more masculine, that is a fact, but sexual preference is a choice.

Victor83 commented 295 days ago.
Well said Louie.

FranksWildYears commented 295 days ago.
If "they are under the same civil laws as minorities" then they would have the right to be married and have it legally recognized by the state.

louiethe20th commented 295 days ago.
In the sense of basic rights, non descriminate due to age, sex, religion, creed or race. Marriage is a special right because it has never before been granted, nor legal. Majority also rules and it gets shot down by "the people" time and time again, until the liberal judges step in!

louiethe20th commented 295 days ago.
Discriminate, sorry for the error.

I have a hard time believing homosexuality is a choice. Is heterosexuality a "lifestyle decision"? It wasn't for me. I just found myself drooling over SI Swimsuit Editions circa the fifth grade and went from there.

FranksWildYears commented 295 days ago.
Is there a list somewhere of basic rights and special rights and a criteria ss to whom each applies? As I age my eye sight is slipping and I find it hard to see how and where we split succh hairs.

louiethe20th commented 295 days ago.
Sperryc would you naturally drool over Playgirl or would you have to choose to? Not trying to be funny or insult you just trying to ask a question. Would that be perfectly natural for you?

Lena commented 295 days ago.
Based on plenty of conversations with gay friends I've had over the years, I find it impossible to believe that homosexuality is a choice.

SilverFox commented 295 days ago.
Frank, since you've aged enough that your eyesight is slipping, you may be creeping up on senior citizen status. I'm sad to have to inform you that you're in danger of losing one of the rights on the list of basic and special rights and the criteria spreadsheet. We took away the right of senior citizens to marry anyone, regardless of gender, because seniors can't reproduce, and therefore no longer meet a major qualification for marriage. Sorry about that, but don't get all snippy and claim you didn't have ample warning. The handwriting has been on the wall for some time now, or didn't you look there? If you did look there, you probably failed to see it only because of your failing eyesight, and that's not my fault. I'm not trying to split hairs here, since I don't know if you've aged so much you no longer have any hairs. A closeup photo of your head on your profile could clear up the matter. (I'm working on getting those lists out there sooner, but I'm aging too, so you know what that means. It means I'm too busy trying to reproduce to work on some friggin' list.)

SilverFox commented 295 days ago.
Uh, Louie, that's not quite what I meant by evidence that sexual preference is a choice. Simply repeating your claim that "sexual preference is a choice" doesn't git 'er done. We need evidence, dude. E-V-I-D-E-N-C-E.

GenghisTheHun commented 294 days ago.
The American Psychiatric Association has stated "some people believe that sexual orientation is innate and fixed; however, sexual orientation develops across a person’s lifetime." On the other hand, the American Psychological Association has stated "most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation." Evidence is conflicting at best, and the jury is still out. History may be the best guide.

sperryc commented 294 days ago.
To me, Louie, no, a Playgirl wouldn't get me to drool.

I don't even like to think about what I'd do if someone put a Playgirl in front of me and told me that's what I was supposed to be attracted to.

But I feel like that's exactly what we're doing by denying homosexuals the right to marry -- we're telling them that their orientation is wrong. If parents, clergymen, or even friends do that, that's their business. It's not the role of government, in my view.

numbah16tdhaha commented 294 days ago.
My Illuminati brethren there hit the nail on the head. Evidence doesn't come easy and I think people too willingly reject the "evidence" of others due to the superiority of their "evidence." People will keep running in circles for now, I suppose.

FranksWildYears commented 294 days ago.
Fox, your comments are going to cause me sleepless nights. I live in the Great White North, and as everyone knows, once the elderly cease to contribute and become a burden on society up hear they are set out in the cold to expire. The forcast for tonight is -32 Celsius (-25 Fahrenheit).

sperryc commented 294 days ago.
numbah, you could be right. I could very well just have blinders on. But I promise you I'm not consciously trying to block out other people's "evidence."

I'm just saying sexual attraction doesn't seem like one of those things you can fake, or make choices about. There are women I can't stand on a personal level, but whom I find pretty damn hot. Jennifer Love Hewitt comes to mind. It's just one of those things, from where I'm standing, that you don't have a whole lot of control over -- and I don't see why it would be any different for gay people.

I'm moving on from this topic, don't worry, but I'm a little embarrassed our government feels the need to step in here. Lots of people think drinking is wrong -- without any help from the government.

Victor83 commented 294 days ago.
The government is stepping in? That is at the request of the pro gay marriage people...not the majority side.

numbah16tdhaha commented 294 days ago.
Sperry, that can't stand 'em but think their hot thing reminds me of this ex of mine...

Ahh yes.. .those who just want the gov't off their backs. . .they tend to be the ones who want the big bad gov't to tell grown-ups who do different things with their pee-pees that (even though they pay taxes) they don't have the civil rights as I do. . .this is wishing that gov't "didn't step in"? Don't want 'gov't' stepping in? Fabulous. Glorious. Then extend civil liberties and rights to couples so that they can share assets, resources, and adopt- see how easy that was, kids?

louiethe20th commented 294 days ago.
I will go one step further...I will not only say choice, but environment and life experiences (alot of times bad) can affect the outcome of sexual preference.

I had a cousin who was mollested by a male neighbor and he ended up being gay.

SilverFox commented 293 days ago.
So Louie, you're ruling out genes as the cause of homosexual preference?
I suggest you do a little research. Studies have shown with statistical significance that there is evidence of a genetic component to homosexuality. Hamer, et al, "A Linkage Between DNA Markers on the X Chromosome and Male Sexual Orientation," Science (July 16, 1993). Three regions on chromosomes have now been implicated. It's not likely that one single gene will be identified. "Since sexual orientation is such a complex trait, we're never going to find any one gene that determines whether someone is gay or not," says one researcher. "It's going to be a combination of various genes acting together as well as possibly interacting with environmental influences." http://www.webmd.com/sex-relationships/news/20050128/is-there-gay-gene. A recent study from Sweden indicates the likely cause is a combination of genetics and individual-specific environmental factors, which may include factors operating during foetal development. http://www.physorg.com/news84720662.html. louiethe20th commented 292 days ago.
I would, but I don't rule out a man being much more feminine and that, combined with environment and life experiences could constitute homosexuality. This goes for masculinity in females as well.
