I believe that Christ died on the cross - one of the most hideous forms of capital punishment ever devised - to prove the meaning of real love. And, by real love, I mean the kind of all encompassing love He has for us but we are not always willing to give back. What would it really mean to the world if God had just said, Oh, well, you turned your back on my love for you by listening to Satan, but that's okay. How would we react as a group? I think it we would respond like spoiled children with weak parents and turn around and do it again. When parents just blow things off the message to the child is that it wasnt very important in the first place. Christ's sacrifice says so much about the sincerity and magnitude of God's love for us. It's a statement and profession of love that is so deep and profound it is almost unfathomable. As Donovan already said, no greater love exists. I believe with all my being that this is true.
