are you kidding? quit knocking guys for doing freestyle, it's what the best swimmers swim. Also PBeaver is mistaken since Thorpe is a middle distance swimmer, the 100 free is below thorpe's range, but he's still competitive. His 400-200 double was mighty impressive, since the competition was tough (hackett in 400, van den Hogenband and Phelps in 200). the only competition phelps faced was crocker in the 100 fly and he barely beat crocker (who is fat) in a great race.
