Little did most of us know at the time, but Reagan had the outcome of the Cold War already calculated upon taking office, and this was just an insignificant indicator of his brash confidence in the strategy. Liberals around the world lost credibility for subsequent outrages because their paranoia showed and was roundly discredited and mocked. This was the beginning of the teflon president era, where the liberal media could not understand the popularity of a leader they found so confoundingly stupid.
