Naysaying Lasik surgery is the same as naysaying having an appendectomy. About the same ratio of people have trouble. In spite of what shroomwoman has to say, if you go *outside* her circle of friends you find that about one in a hundred people have dry eye syndrome. As for re-doing the procedure, or touching up, that's a recognized part of the procedure - not a 'problem.' And as for halos around lights - glasses (which I've worn for 35 years) create all sorts of double-images, glints and false reflections ... not to mention dust and dirt, getting loose with time, falling off and getting broken, etc. I don't mind sensible conservatism about having a medical procedure done, but we should stick to the facts. Compared to other procedures out there in the word Lasik is safe, reliable, and produces a result that most of *my* long-time glasses-wearing friends call things like incredible and miraculous.
