The ability to nuance (flip-flop) on certain evolving issues is an important skill for any politician to be successful. I think he should get a pass in this area for those topics still evolving: gay marriage debate, support for the Iraq war, Abu Graib scandal, etc. But how can you be unsure what you threw over the fence at the Capitol Building over thirty years ago? How are you not certian where you stand on gun control vs. the 2nd Amendment? Is a US/France alliance really vital for world peace and safety from terrorists? If you're using your ability to change your stance on issues to confuse voters about where you stand, that's really more like lying, and when a politician admits to lying, it should be bye-bye time. I know, I know, Grow up, every politician lies, they have to, etc., etc. When they get caught and forced to admit it, it's bye bye time. Why did Clinton lie about what should have been his personal business?UPDATE: CanadaSucks, not many participants on either side consider the Vietnam War a joke. It certainly was no joke when the soldiers returned home to a traitor's welcome.
