More like an ally than a friend. I can't believe how he rationalizes his position as a Catholic (I don't want to impose my beliefs on women, or something like that). Don't read this as some kind of religious extremeism on my part - I'm just looking at it from the standpoint of what this guy believes and what he'll stand up for. If he is a believing, practicing Catholic, then part of his faith is (or should be)that abortion is wrong. But, it appears that his liberal dogma trumps Catholic dogma, at least in his mind. It is one of the several things that makes me distrust him. It's a bit typical - he wants to have it both ways (i.e., claim to be a faithful member of a religion, but disagree with one of its chief tenets).
