"The Notting Hill Carnival was formed by its bands and members to provide cultural continuity for the Caribbean communities in Britain and also to provide a showcase for Black arts and performances. For thirty years it has been massively successful with these objectives. At its peak 250 bands play to 2 million people at the event."
