Of course, unquestioning obedience to authority is a destructive quality in any society, but somehow this trait implicitly seems to be among those traits that conservatives really mean when they talk about (their version of) patriotism: How dare these liberals question the president in a time of war? We need to support our president! War has a lasting impact on a country. We have every right to question it. It would be wrong not to ask a president, any president, to justify and clearly make the case for any war he or she wishes to engage our troops in.
