Stanford played their first football game in 1891 and has fielded a team every year since except 1906-1918, 1943, 1944 and 1945. Stanford has been credited with one National Championship and is a member of the PAC 10. Notable coaches at Stanford include: Walter C. Camp, Glenn 'Pop' Warner, Bill Walsh, Jack Elway, and Tyrone Willingham.
