Ran is a movie loosely based on Shakespeare's King Lear. Aptly it is an epic film that runs for two hours and forty minutes. Ran was released in 1985 and was directed by Akira Kurosawa

King Lear set in feudal Japan. Brilliantly filmed and acted. One of the best adaptations of Shakespeare ever filmed.

Not Kurosawa's best, which I think is his black and white work, but absolutely stunning, nonetheless.
