The Eighty get hyped because the people in the media and Hollywood grew up thru this period. They have a right to boast about this time. This was a time where America really stood proud due to Reagan's leadership. Many Americans loved Reagan and he did make for a renewed sense of partiotism. This was also a great age for TV and cable and itr produced it's share of music unique to the times. Communism fell and the Space Shuttle blew up. There certainly were it's moments. Not a bad decade to grow up in overall.
