I went to see the show taped in Philly this summer and it was lots of fun. It was great to see how the show is put together and Pat and Vanna down-to-earth. I love the show!!
While it does not happen very often, there have been winners of the $100,000. I may have missed out one definite winner. In addition, there have been a few misses on the bonus round puzzle where people did land on the $100,000 but did not guess the puzzle.
1)There was one time when it was Great Outdoors Week and a gentleman won that day. I just remember it distinctly because Vanna had on this sweater with like a horse on the front of it and I don't think the contestant had any family/friends in the audience so Vanna came down from the puzzleboard after he solved to celebrate with him.
2) There were these two sisters on Family Week who won the $100,000. Pat mentioned afterwards something to the effect of, There was an air of inevitability, because the two sisters won every single toss-up and puzzle.
3) There was this gentleman who spun the Wheel and was saying to himself, $100,000. And he ended up landing on $100,000 and solving the puzzle. I just remember Vanna coming down again from the puzzleboard because he too was by himself and she went and hugged him.
4) There was like this elderly lady named Nancy who in the main part of the show won about $5,500 but made it to the bonus round. And then she ended up solving the bonus puzzle and winning the $100,000.
I just remember that show particularly well because it was a fun show all around. One contestant was a lady and she solved the toss-ups really quickly. And then the other contestant was a man who was a drama teacher who when he introduced himself said he had been sippin' on Margaritas before the show. Sajak replied that there would be no more caffeine for that contestant.
Nancy was also quite funny too, because after she solved one puzzle, Pat walked over to her and said, I like your style kid. Nancy replied, I like yours too, we'll meet later. Pat then replied, I rarely get hit-on right on the show.
Truly one of the funniest episodes of Wheel I have ever seen.
