As a fan of ELO I have often found that Jeff Lynne's contribution to music has been under-rated,not so much by the public (hence all the hit singles & albums),but by the critics. Ok so the songs were never about gritty teenage angst, more along the lines of space-age escapism. But I think that is what made his work so popular, for the listener to lose themselves in a world of lush lines & melodies,Eldorado/New World Record/Out of the Blue & Time being prime examples. And considering ELO was such a big group,Lynne was never afraid to poke fun at it in some of the songs. Well worth a listen.
