Its a good car for gas milage, but there have been alot of recalls on my 96 cavalier, and recently the timing chain slipped, it was fixed but six months later the same thing happened. I am now looking for a new engine for a chevy cavilier. Keep your Cavalier a finely tuned machine, and if something doesn't sound right, don't wait to get it fixed.
