When the Taliban ruled here (what did the UN say about that?) this was one dangerous country. It was certainly their (the Taliban's) bad luck that they did not strike in NYC while Clinton or Gore were president. They would certainly still be in control of the government of Afghanistan. After the US and the coalition routed the Taliban, this country, thanks to efforts conducted primarily by the US, has a chance at becoming a democratic republic, and no longer a dangerous country.
