Richard M. Nixon (1969-1974)

President Nixon inherited a deeply divided country when he assumed office in 1969. Throughout his administration, he struggled to heal the nation's wounds. Included in President Nixon's domestic program was the end of the draft, new anticrime laws, and a broad environmental program.

 


Jar-Jar Binks

His domestic issues were more liberal than Clinton's because Nixon had to deal with an overwhelmingly Democratic Congress. If he had a GOP Congress, there was no way that Nixon would have embraced OSHA, EPA, Equal Rights Amendment, and fiscal liberalism.
