Good news: Great fares within CA (lower than major carriers). Bad news: Terrible fares from CA (higher than major carriers) to anywhere east of Vegas. Good news: They turn planes around quickly, resulting in less delays. Bad news: The planes are often really messy and disgusting as a result. Standing in line for a half-hour to board sucks, as does needing to show up an hour early to get overhead bin space, as does its reputation as the airline of choice for shady characters (check out the A&E series Airline for details), but Southwest does come in handy sometimes.
