I've really got to be a bit more careful before picking a winner! First I predicted that Kerry would win the election then I predicted that the Eagles would win the Super Bowl. Both were close contests, but still! However this was a tough race to predict, given the narrow margin of victory across several states. In the final analysis, Kerry ran a competent but totally visionless campaign. For all of his political problems, Bush ran a very efficient campaign machine that was driving by a very tight message. Bush was able to paint Kerry as weak on defense matters, especially on Iraq, which killed the Democrats in the final analysis. Is the Democratic party dead? Certainly not, it simply needs a compelling candidate to deliver a solid message to the country, Kerry simply didn't fit the bill.
