They say that almost nothing is harder to endure than the betrayal of a false friend. Luckily for me, I've had very few of these. I consider my closest friends as basically the same as family...the real ones have gotten me through thick and thin, and I consider myself an equally loyal friend to them as well. Many in our society base their lives, their weekends, their holidays, etc merely around their own nuclear family (esp if they get married or have children) - not me. My friendships will remain a high priority; they are an essential part of my life.
