Boxing is an underappreciated sport in the US, probably because it costs 50 dollars to watch the best fighters just on TV. The Contender shows just how hard it is to be a fighter, not just in the ring, but on families as well. However, it also shows the glory in winning. I would still prefer to watch an uncut boxing match without the fake crowd noise and edited rounds, although the slow motion head shots are a nice touch. Overall I think it is an entertaining show that does a great job of mixing reality TV with true athletic competition.
