The San Antonio Spurs got their start as the Dallas Chaparrals in 1967 in the American Basketball Association (ABA). The franchise moved to San Antonio in 1973 and changed their name to the Spurs. With the collapse of the ABA, the Spurs joined the NBA in 1976. Behind the play of David Robinson and Tim Duncan, the franchise claimed their first title in 1999. The Spurs play their home games at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.
