i believe in abortion being legal during the first trimester. In the earliest stages of pregnancy i don't see the fetus as a helpless baby, whether you argue this point with religion or biology i will disagree because i dont let human interpretations of religion determine my beliefs and because i too have studied the sciences extensively enough to develop my own opinion on the matter. of course i believe that abortion should never be a means of birth control, but i think that argument is silly considering that its not a reality of the times, rarely will one come across a person that has had several abortions because if nothing else its a traumatizing experience for the woman. I would also agree that a woman SHOULD tell the father and discuss options, but at the end of the day it is not his decision to make, he is not the one that will be carrying the child around for nine months. UPDATE i think your point allknowningknowitall is what divides a lot of people. Yes i would have a problem with killing a baby right in front of me, but there is not a baby inside me during the early stages of pregnancy. Some people believe its a baby from conception i dont believe its a baby until it experiences significant development during the later parts of pregnancy. If you were to take out hte baby as you put it, i would not have a baby in front of me at all just a tiny undeveloped foreign fetus. I see your point, especially in cases where a woman has an abortion late in her pregnancy but thats not how i feel early in the pregnancy.
