Seems pretty reasonable to me to formulate an opinion based on reason rather than predefined party lines. There are some ideas that I agee with from each party; there are some ideas that, while I like the reasons, I don't like what their answer is; there are some ideas that I like their answers, but not the reason why. And there are some times I think all parties have gone freaking nuts and I'd make up my own mind instead. When it comes to voting, party affiliation does not matter to me, it's a matter of how confident I feel they can do the job. Most people are bound to lean towards one side or the other, but I would hope they would take a step back and evaluate each issue for themselves.
