I think if you're looking for the heart of America, Midwest atmosphere with the open fields and wide blue skies, Illinois is your place, although I would avoid Metropolis -one gigantic flea market and a gambling boat. I was not impressed. Chicago is a different story. The skyline is beautiful; the museums are great. I like the food and the downtown atmosphere. But most of all, I loved waking up and opening the drapes in my hotel room to the magnificent view of Lake Michigan.
