The franchise was originally established in 1876 as the Cincinnati Red Stockings. They changed their name to the Reds in 1878, but disbanded for ten years. With the exception of a six year period when they were known as the Redlegs (1953-1958), the team has been the Reds since they were re-established in 1890. The franchise has won five World Series championships, most recently in 1990. An NL Central team, the Reds play their home games at Cynergy Field in Cincinnati, OH. Reds in the National Baseball Hall of Fame include Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, and Tony Perez.
