Phil Collins has been rated by many polls, to be either one of the best or the best drummer in the world. He achieved huge success with Genesis as a drummer first and later as drummer and singer. He first balanced his vocalist/drumming role as a member of Genesis with his side jazz fusion band Brand X. Later, he remained a very active member of Genesis for close to fourteen years while also maintaining his solo project. At the same time he produced many albums for people like Robert Plant, Adam Ant and Eric Clapton as well as making guest appearances on countless other releases. He is, after all, the man who played two Live Aid shows in one day.
To this day, in addition to his solo records, he continues to challenge himself by scoring and writing songs for movies. One of which, in 2000, won him an Oscar for his work on Tarzan!
