My mom and dad weren't liberals. Both have been right-wingers all their lives. Neither of them liked the hippie's, Black Panthers, radicals and the one's who protested against the war. Dad served in Vietnam from 1969-1973 and spent another two years on reserve. Mom used to go to many military bases when she was in her late teens to adulthood. She loved men in uniform. She told me she met Bob Hope when he joked around with the troops. Then weeks later, she met my dad and they fell in love. ... The reason why I take opposite political approaches with my parents was because I look at America's problems from a different perspective. I also had a liberal college history professor who pretty much changed how I looked at things and he became my mentor and best friend.
