We moved into the area about a year ago - and chanced upon Cup of Sunshine Coffee & Collectables while driving by the neighbourhood. So our family decided to visit to see what they offer. Firstly, it was a surprise - as we thought all they served was coffee (hence the business name 'Coffee and Collectables), but we were wrong. They served all sorts of yummy 'home-style' hot and cold foods and drinks. My wife and I love their tomato tortellini soup of the day - coming off the stove hot and delicious. There is another soup - the name I can't remember, with rice and chicken in a clear broth, is a favorite of my children. The ambience has a real 'down-to-earth' small town cafe feel. Really makes you feel comfortable. There is another cafe in town that has a similar concept, but you feel like you're gonna break something with the antiques around, but at Cup of Sunshine, even with the antiques and collectibles all around you, you don't feel uncomfortable at all. My wife and I were looking for a place closeby, that offered the Cheers type of feeling - where everyone knows your name - you know what I mean? Well, we found it at Cup of Sunshine. Debbie, Kelly and Sam (the owners) know our names, including our children's names - and they make us feel right at home. I especially like that music is played softly, allowing our family to chat and talk at normal speaking volumes, and still be able to hear ourselves, unlike some other chain restaurants in town, that you have to raise your voices to hear each other. We haven't tried all the food yet, but have settled with a few favorites. The Thai Chicken salad is incredible (not chintzy at all, lots of chicken, sauce, vegetables and nuts), the samosa is done crispy on the outside - just the way I like it, and the dipping sauce it comes with gives it a nice kick! We'll have to visit more often to try all the different foods ;-) A 'tradition' of ours is to have lunch/dinner there, followed by ice-cream - and the ice-cream there is awesome - good servings, different flavors in a double scoop, waffle cones...yummy. I've even brought my laptop into the cafe and jumped on their free wireless internet network that they offer all customers - how cool is that! If you're in the neighbourhood in Abbotsford, British Columbia, you've gotta check it out - the food, ambience, friendly staff, collectibles to see and buy - make it a wonderful experience.
