My feelings about Martha Stewart as a person are pretty neutral (i.e., I think she's a pretty good cook/decorator/salesperson, but there are better around as well). However, as most of the other posts on this item indicate, that she pretty much got singled out for exemplary punishment. I wasn't even going to comment on this item until the latest wrinkle popped up a couple of days ago (or was it yesterday?). Although I've only seen a couple of headlines and have not delved any further into the latest blip in this case (i.e., that she violated the terms of her confinement and went into the thriving metropolis of Katonah for a yoga lesson, thereby threatening, I suppose, the economy of the entire free world, and therefore has had three weeks added to her house arrest), I think it is far beyon absurd that law enforcement authorities are spending so much time making sure that she abides by the letter of the law. Maybe wew should send these guys down to Florida so that they can do something about sex offenders. Please, don't get me started. I get the impression that the cops (or the government, or whoever the hell is responsible for watchnig Martha) are overzealous in monitoring an easy target who happens to be high profile. Travesty doesn't begin to describe the situation. Gee, let's all applaud the police for making sure that Martha doesn't pose a sinister threat to society. What an unmitigated crock.
