A recent survey here (UK) found that people are now concerned about giving aid to Africa since they have been doing this for the past 30 years and have seen no change. That's because the money hasn't always gone to where it was supposed to. It would be far better to give knowledge, help the people build for themselves, propogate food properly, encourage a different thinking pattern, etc. Sending money which just ends up in the hands of militiamen and corrupt political leaders solves nothing.
