AMBIEN

reviewed by SleepyKC

AMBIEN is a sleep aide. AMBIEN works with a natural brain chemical called GABA. GABA is one of at least 18 major brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters control communication among neighboring brain cells by either increasing or decreasing their electrical activity.

AMBIEN 1

I am 34 years old, married with 3 children. I began having sleep difficulties after the birth of my 3rd child and it went on for months. My Dr. then prescibed me Ambien which he said was totally safe and non habit forming. Well... 2 and a half years later I have been taking it 6 out of 7 nights a week if not more. Besides the fact that I hated how dependent I became on this drug...I wanted to be off if it because we want to have another child. It has been several weeks now and I am just miserable. I can not fall asleep until 2 or 3am and don't stay asleep and have to be up at 7am. And that is on a good night! I have even been taking the Tylenol PM too often! This medication IS addictive in that it works... and who doesn't want to sleep... right?? I am recommending that you do NOT want to begin using Ambien unless you are prepared to get hooked. Best of luck to you. I am making an appt. with a sleep lab.
