Born June 12, 1924 in Milton, Massachusetts, George Herbert Walker Bush, a Republican, served as the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993. Bush's presidency saw a dramatically changing world with the fall of Communism and the rise of new threats, most notably state-sponsored terrorism. Following his loss to Democrat Bill Clinton in 1992, Bush retired to Houston, Texas, where he still resides with his wife Barbara. Bush's son, George Walker Bush, was elected President in 2000.
