I don't think Americans appreciate the gravity of attacking someone with the stick. You can carve somebodys eye out with a flick of the wrist. It is, in reality, paramount to attacking a baseball player with a bat. If they take fighting out of the game, you'll see a lot more of this guys dirty, dangerous stick work.
