I'll just assume that it's not. And does it mean "look after" as in "watch over", or does the question refer to the appearance of the woman post-pregnancy?)
Not necessarily (in either case above).
I've met too many women who, despite having wonderful and loving mothers, have been irresponsible mothers to their children. I know of a lot of kids who are raised by their grandparents because their parents were unable or were too irresponsible (either can be the case) to raise them by themselves.
Then, if we're talking about appearance here, then it's still not necessarily true. Some women take more physical attributes from the father's side of the family. Like mine.
