THE ACLU: We Don't Hate Religion! (we just hate Christianity)

The ACLU is a convenient target these days. I doubt that it is hardly the anti-Christian monster that it has been made out to be. And since people seem to want to debate church/state separation, let me say that a bunch of random quotes by the Founding Fathers (many of which are probably taken out of context) do not constitute an argument against the separation of church and state. It's the meaning of the First Amendment. It's a political force that allows for religious freedom and keeps the United States from becoming a theocracy. Nowhere in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights or any other document that is important to our country states that we're a Christian nation. And in current times, when our country is a melting-pot, it is no longer even accurate to say that we're a "Christian nation", as there are many religions here. And Christians are not the only ones deserving of religious freedom. The ACLU does often go too far in trying to uphold this principle in our government. Keeping Christianity from becoming our national religion (and trampling all over other religions in our country) is one thing. Nit-picking about a cross on some state's seal is another. But in my opinion, the ACLU is a scapegoat these days.
