My mom has this horrible habit of returning gifts that my sisters and I give her. She does this even to things that she ASKS for. This, as you could imagine, is highly upsetting to her daughters, who put a LOT of thought into what we get her for each holiday, only to have it returned to the store. We don't want to give her just cash, but she feels that gifts are a "waste of money". She doesn't understand how insulting it is.
But I finally found the solution:
Get it engraved with something personal. There's no way she can return it. I'm sure my mom will find a way someday, somehow, but I'm milking this for all it's worth until that day comes.
