Arguably the greatest and most influential Tex-Mex group ever, the Sir Douglas Quintet epitomized Texas' reputation as a fertile roots music melting pot and established the career of Tex-Mex cult legend Doug Sahm. Doug Sahm was texas rock and roll. From the 60's Sir Douglas Quintet to The 90's Texas Tornadoes, Sahm could rock with the best of them and usually had some the best on stage with him. When Doug Sahm died, a little bit of Texas died, also. If you want to hear country or rock and roll or Tex-mex or Texas music the way it's supposed to be played, pick up some Doug Sahm music and really live.
