I was a consultant for a "Minute". I started to feel pressured about purchasing an inventory that I did nopt have the money to buy. The person who recruited me had all these plans to "help" me make that order. The order was over $1500 in product. She had me really going, I was stressed out about not having money for products. I found myself online filling out credit card applications past midnight. She even suggested that I call exsiting cards for an extention. Then I stopped and asked myself what was I doing? Am I Nuts? I sat and asked myself is this really worth it for me? No. Her interest was not all that genuine either. She get a commision from recruits and there orders. I am thinking since she has been in the company for almost 10 years she makes the max, 13%. So to me it is also a pyramid scheme too. The products are not all that great. No they are not the prices in the mall but the product is drugstore quality to me. The mark up is high on the products too. My advice to anyone looking to be a consultant is Good Luck. I have found that people run in the other direction when they hear you are a Mary Kay consultant. Beware of that recruiter remember they stand to make money off of you and all your future orders too. The people are nice I will say that and they do try to keep you motivated and there is plenty of help on selling through meetings and information packets. But it was not for me.
