UPDATED JUNE 21, 2008. Incumbent Albert Wynn (D) lost the Democratic nomination in the Maryland Primary election and resigned his seat. The Governor called a special election to fill the vacancy and Donna Edwards (D) easily won this heavily Democratic seat.
She was born June 28, 1958, and becomes the first African-American woman elected to the House from Maryland.
UPDATE: Albert Wynn lost the Democratic nomination for his seat in the Democratic Primary on February 12, 2008. Challenger Donna Edwards crushed Wynn when she obtained 60% of the vote.
ORIGINAL COMMENT: This district is drawn to be a majority Black district and Kerry won 78% of the vote here in 2004.
Wynn won his first term in 1992 and has easily been elected since.
He was born in 1951 and is Baptist.
