Scottish Noise Festival held March 1st.People throw open their doors and windows and make noise with pots and pans,bells,whistles etc. to drive out the evil spirits.

There are many such traditions throughout the world where loud noise is believed to drive out bad spirits.This is probably where the tradition of noisemakers on New Years Eve came from.This one sounds like a lot of fun.
