Abortion

I think abortions should be available to everyone although I don't see it as a good form of birth control. If it were a form of birth control that would mean that people would have sex whenever they want WITHOUT PROTECTION or after FORGETING THEIR BC PILLS, then just get an abortion every time they get pregnant. That would be very expensive and who would really use abortion as birth control? Well, unfortanetly this IS the case with most abortions. Most people who are pregnant and don't want their baby failed to use their birth control properly or didn't use it at all. This means people need to be MORE EDUCATED about sex and the responsibility that comes with it. However, I still think it IS very important to keep abortion available as an option to people (see next paragraph). Whether a person should get an abortion depends on how they feel about it and what their particular situation is. Anyways, I think abortion should be legal but should also be much more controlled. Right now a woman can choose to have an abortion even when the baby is nearly ready to be delivered and the baby's senses are all functioning completely, so it may suffer during the process. Many abortion doctors would like a law to be passed that requires women to decide whether they want to keep their baby or not within the first 4 months of pregnancy, with only a few exceptions. This is a realistic expectation since most woman find out within a month or two that they are pregnant. Also, the first neurons develop when a fetus is 2 months old (neurons make up the brain and senses throughout your body), but it is supposedly around 5 months when the baby becomes fully conscious (or at least that's what many scientists believe). Although their nervous system is still underdeveloped. In fact, a child's brain grows most rapidly until 5th grade and then expansion slows down, which is why it is easier to learn things as a child (such as a language). Also, a young fetus ISN'T LIVING according to science because it cannot sustain life on its own. One could argue that abortion takes away the fetus's right to become a baby. Well, then I guess this also means that every woman in the world should allow all her millions of eggs to become babies because eggs, just like fetuses, could potentially become babies. Obviously it would be outrageous for someone to believe that every woman should get pregnant billions of times to give each of her eggs a chance to become a baby or for it to be wrong for a man to cum because he would be "killing" all those sperm that could have become a living baby. This is not much different than keeping a fetus from becoming a baby. I feel that abortion especially should be legal since there are always rape cases, pregnancies that put the mother at high risk of death, severe mental retardation (which CAN be detected in fetuses), and malfunction or misuse of birth control. If you are against abortion merely because of your religious belief, I hope you consider not basing your political beliefs on your religion because whether your religion is true or not, no religion is proven, which is why you wont see the immortal aspects of your religion in any history book and it will most likely contradict scientific discoveries, like evolution. Deciding on abortion laws is a big decision that influences people of all different religions and morals and should be based on facts and not on peoples individual beliefs. I think it is also ok to base your political stand on morals derived from facts but not from religion since that is not known fact. I think that adoption is also a good option if the fetus seems to be in good health both mentally and physically. But if abortions were made illegal and all unwanted babies were put up for adoption, it would be almost impossible to support all the unwanted babies and it is predicted that their would be in increase in the # of parents who leave their unwanted baby in a street or on someones porch and there would be more homeless people, since if people arent adopted at a young age, when they are older they are forced to leave the shelter and try supporting themselves with no family to help. Unfortunately, most abortions are the result of people misusing their birth control or not using it at all. The best thing to do is to increase education to young teens about all aspects of sex, the responsibility that comes with it and the possible risks, including unwanted pregnancy. Possibly your birth control method is bothersome whether it be remembering to take your pill at the same time everyday or side affects etc., but don't give up on birth control completely! Instead, explore and learn about other forms of birth control because different forms of birth control are better for different people. If you find a birth control that you like on your 1st try, congratulations. Abortion is not for everyone and for people to know if abortion is right for them, they need to learn about it.
