I don't expect him to return back to public life, but of all the potential candidates on this list, he is probably still the most well positioned to do it.
His turmultous tenure at State might be an issue, and it is questionable whether he can get support from the Republican party due to his more moderate views, but I still think he has enough stock value to be a strong general election candidate. Had he run 10 years earlier, it would have been just about a sure bet.
