Certainly one of the ten greats. The McCarthy-era sequences alone will ensure its immortality. After its 1950s heyday it was often more whimsical than bust-a-gut funny, but the rendering was always superb. One of those strips, like Dick Tracy, Orphan Annie, Krazy Kat, Thimble Theatre, Little Nemo, Count Screwloose of Toulouse, Smokey Stover, Toonerville Trolley, and Polly and Her Pals which created a fascinating alternative world.
